Tylee Ertel

I always wanted to be an author and editor ever since I read the Baby-Sitter's Club at age 8. I started with poetry, getting myself accidentally published at 12, online and in a collective book with other poets. I won several awards for my poetry work including Editor's Choice and Reader's Choice awards. After that, I focused on Arc and Beta reading for other author's while proofreading on the side.

In 2012, I started getting requests for larger editing projects from other authors, and eventually, began to take on more editing projects through several different genres on a consistent basis.

In 2020, I decided to try my hand at writing on my own again. I began with short stories I had thought up years ago. I was on Kindle Vella for a while but quit a year before it shut down to focus on paperback publishing. I also became Editor in Chief at Pandamoon Publishing during that time, where I worked for 5 years.

Today, I own my own publishing company, Whispering Woods Publishing, and have written and edited several stories since.

What People are Saying

I met Tylee Ertel on accident when I was looking for an editor, but I didn’t know she was one at the time. Through getting to know one another she revealed her profession. My previous editor had a major life change, and I had a project in desperate need of an editor, with a looming deadline. Tylee gave me a sample of her work and I loved her style. When she finished editing my project, she was worried I wouldn’t be happy with her. It turns out she didn’t like my ending, and she wasn’t afraid to tell me it didn’t live up to the rest of my project.

By the time I reached the end and saw her notes, I already trusted her advice. I trashed my original ending and went at it from another angle. It’s fantastic now. Obviously, I wasn’t upset she told me the truth, and my work is all the better for her suggestions.

Her kindly delivered honesty is refreshing. She has a way of pointing you in the right direction without making you feel like you suck. She makes great notes, gives clear ideas, and overall guides your project to be the best it can be in your own voice. A previous editor tried to rewrite my work her way, I hate that! Tylee just wants you to succeed. She’s encouraging and professional, her insights are inspiring and thoughtful.

Plus, she’s got a lock on grammar and punctuation. I cannot recommend her editing, proofreading, and formatting skills enough. She has great rates, and she works quick. She has never caused a delay for me, and she delivers a top-notch end result. She has worked on three novels and three novellas for me, and she will continue to be my first choice for all of my future editing needs, for as long as she'll have me.

Working with Tylee has been an absolute game-changer for my writing. Her keen eye for detail, deep understanding of storytelling, and ability to refine my work without losing my voice have made the editing process seamless and rewarding. She doesn’t just fix grammar and punctuation—she enhances flow, strengthens character development, and ensures every scene is as impactful as possible.

Beyond her editing skills, Tylee has been a fantastic collaborator. She’s insightful, supportive, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure my stories shine. I truly appreciate her dedication and professionalism, and I can’t recommend her enough to any writer looking for an editor who genuinely cares about their work.
